Mad Max is a 1979 Australiandystopian action film directed by George Miller, produced by Byron Kennedy, andstarring Mel Gibson. James McCausland and George Miller wrote the screenplayfrom a story by George Miller and Byron Kennedy. The film became the first in aseries, spawning the sequels Mad Max 2 (a.k.a. The Road Warrior, 1981), Mad MaxBeyond Thunderdome (1985), and Mad Max: Fury Road (2015).
In an apocalyptic future... where thehighways of Australia are terrorized by violent gangs who have turned thehighways into a battleground as they loot gasoline and savagely brutalize theinnocent. Max Rockatansky is a rookie officer of an Australian highway patrolcalled the Main Force Patrol... a policeman who had everything... Until, amurderous motorcycle gang led by the evil Toecutter burns his partner Jim Gooseto death and murders his wife and son. Soon after, a vengeful, "Mad" Maxdecides to take the law into his own hands as he sets out to get blood from themotorcycle gang with deadly results.
Much later, the apocalyptic story continuesin the 2015 feature film, Mad Max: FuryRoad. A high ranking female Imperator named Furiosa rebels against hertyrannical ruler, in post apocalyptic Australia, as she escapes with his mostprized possessions – his wives – imprisoned for his pleasure. As a deadlypursuit ensues, a drifter named Max "Mad Max" finds himself onceagain in murderous mayhem.
