Beautiful elephant foot vase made of enamelled and vitrified ceramic, entirely hand-modeled on a lathe and decorated by hand with animals, precisely two wolves and a parrot, and with flowers, leaves and wreaths of foliage. Made in neo-Renaissance style and marked under the base "B" then I presume with the character of the two points ":" and immediately after the letter "C", all within a box. Made by the italian painter and ceramist Benedetta Cappa Marinetti, an important representative of the artistic movement of futurism, who collaborated with the Albisola italian factory of MGA around 1930, the same period of dating of this vase, perfectly in line with the wonderful patina that covers it, especially under the base.
Useful information for the evaluation of the object:
We have put, in the photos immediately below this description, to give an idea of the value of the works of this artist, some paintings sold at auction, with a maximum peak of €38,000, excluding auction fees of 25-30%. Unfortunately we have not found any ceramics for sale at this time, to be able to make a more correct comparison, as they are extremely rare to find.
Information about the artist and/or manufacturer:
Benedetta Cappa, known as Beny (Rome, 1897 – Venice, 1977), was an Italian painter, set designer and writer, exponent of Futurism and wife of Filippo Tommaso Marinetti. Coming from a Piedmontese family, she was a student of Giacomo Balla. From 1919 she experimented with different forms of art from painting to literature to set design, in line with the versatility of Futurism. In the last photo, always immediately below this description, we have put additional information about the artist for those who want to learn more, with the brand she used, very similar to the one present under the base of our vase.
