He has been described as an “astronomer, mystic, and story teller” who was “obsessed by life after death, and on other worlds and who seemed to see no difference between the two.” His wonderfully appropriate handwritten note in French, translated in full: “Don't you find it strange that the inhabitants of your planet have almost all lived so far without knowing where they are, without being interested in wondering about it, and without boasting of the wonders of the universe.” In fine condition, with minor age toning. #12519
